Veterans Day

Being as close as I am to so many Vets, it's hard sometimes to find the words. Especially so, after just burying one. From the deepest, most sincere part of me, I wish to say 'Thank you' to each and everyone who sacrifices their lives, comfort and safety for the protection of my own.

Failure of the Intellectual Justification for 'Multiculturalism'

Homegrown Terrorist
No critically thinking adult can argue that the attack on our uniformed hero's last Thursday was an unprovoked terrorist attack against this great nation. It was a massacre of our defenders in arguably their most weak place.

--

There exists, predominantly on the political left, the ideal that in order for society perfected, one must rise above the not merely the color of an individual's skin, but also our cultural behaviors. Cultural differences are not to have attention drawn to them, but are instead to be accepted without question, lest you be labeled a racist or intolerant. So strong is the belief that these 'differences' must be overlooked that even to take notice of the obvious distinctions is demonized. This bedrock principle of multiculturalism is now so pervasive within our society that it has invaded our military at the cost of 13 lives and nearly 30 injuries. Make no mistake, this act of terrorism was perpetrated by a jihadist and he was abetted in his murderous rampage by the politically correct culture that now exists within our military structure.

Our society is paralyzed with the thought of being labeled insensitive, or worse getting sued for some trumped up charge of racsim. This paralysis grips not only individuals but companies and government agencies. So unwilling or unable to act were the supervisors within the intelligence community that Nidal Malik Hasan was able to repeatedly attempt to contact Al-Qaeda, pontificate on the heroism of suicide bombers and preach that infidels should be beheaded and have boiling oil poured down their throats in front of peers within the United States Army.

So powerful is the influence of multiculturalism within the intelligence and defense communities of this nation that they are rendered ineffective to the point that we are no safer now than we were on 9/10/2001. Arguably we are much worse off. Blatantly staring us in the face was a declared threat and the FBI and Army turned a blind eye to the danger. Hasan publicly broadcast his terrorist sympathies and with the full knowledge of the FBI attempted to contact our sworn enemy during war time, and yet nothing was done to impede his efforts. Worse yet, the FBI knew of the attempts at contact and willfully turned their eyes away. Diversity has rendered our military ineffectual at discerning threats within their own ranks. It has forced us to become slaves to those we are sworn to defend against.

The 'multiculturalism is a great threat to this country' meme has existed for many years, but now in a very public and publicized way people are able to see why and how the threat will contribute to the destruction of the greatest nation upon the face of this earth.

I cannot argue with Right Girl's analysis on the placement of blame.

Blue Dog Death Wish

"The only thing a politician cares about more than the money, prestige, and fame is getting re-elected."
"The only principle that a Blue Dog politician is concerned with is not a principle at all, but instead a principal."

As I am sure you are now aware, HR 3692 the Affordable Health Care for America Act, passed in the House last night 220 - 215. Make no mistake, this is the closest this country has ever flirted with European style Socialism. Yet there are some positives to hold on to. Number one, Harry Reid is a spineless douche, and will never be able to organize the 60 votes he needs in the Senate to pass this on to PeeBo for signing. Number two, and far more important, is the message that Blue Dog Democrats sent to the people of the United States, and to their constituents: 'We don't care what you think.'

I guess, in order to fully understand the impact that this legislation is going to have on the Blue Dog community it is important to first understand what a 'Blue Dog' is. Emphasis, mine.
Wikipedia:
The Democratic Blue Dog Coalition is a group of currently 52 moderate and conservative Democratic Party members of the United States House of Representatives, first formed in 1995. The Blue Dog Coalition describes itself as a group of moderate-to-conservative Democrats committed to financial and national security, favoring compromise and bipartisanship over ideology and party discipline. In 2006, Blue Dog candidates such as Heath Shuler and Brad Ellsworth were elected in conservative-leaning districts, ending years of Republican dominance in these areas.

Blue Dog House Website:
The fiscally conservative Democratic Blue Dog Coalition was formed in 1995 with the goal of representing the center of the House of Representatives and appealing to the mainstream values of the American public. The Blue Dogs are dedicated to a core set of beliefs that transcend partisan politics, including a deep commitment to the financial stability and national security of the United States.

So, what do we have here? We have a group of 52 individuals who proclaim themselves to be fiscally conservative, and who strive to rise above 'partisan politics' to put the best interests of this country first. However, 28 members of the so called fiscal conservative Blue Dogs voted for the largest expansion of government in the history of the United States. They voted for the bill that will grow the government somewhere between $2,400,000,000,000 and $3,000,000,000,000. So who are these fiscal superhero's? Who are the 28 defenders of our nation's wealth and fiscal sovereignty?

  1. Arcuri, NY
  2. Baca, CA
  3. Berry, AR
  4. Bishop, GA
  5. Boswell, IA
  6. Cardoza, CA

  8. Cooper, TN
  9. Costa, CA

  23. Loretta Sanchez, CA
  24. Schiff, CA
  25. Scott, GA
  26. Space, OH
  27. Thompson, CA
  28. Wilson, OH

These are the politicians who profess to the American people that they stand for fiscal conservatism, while simultaneously shoving the knife of health care legislation into our backs and telling us, 'it's good for you.'

You might be saying, 'Well, at least 24 Blue Dogs stood strong and voted 'No.'' Ha! Go back to the top of this post and read those quotes again. These spineless punks are possibly the worst lot of sleazy, political whores in the United States today. You'd be mistaken to think that these 24 stood up against the fiscally disastrous health care bill on principle. Paralyzed with the overwhelming fear of losing re-election, these gutless wusses, crawled in to Nancy Pelosi's office and begged to be allowed to vote against the bill. They've bucked their party so that at the end of the day, they could stand in front of their constituents and proclaim themselves to be the fiscal conservatives they campaigned as. These 24 members are losers who are incapable of supporting the party position for fear of being ousted during the re-elections next year. They are neither principled nor fiscally conservative, they are merely double talking politicians.

So what are we to take away from this, then? Blue Dogs, despite all their barking about fiscal conservatism, are nothing more than big government, liberty-hating Democrats. You're response to this situation is clearly laid before you, VOTE THEM OUT!

We have a message for the members of Congress, Blue Dog or not, we're coming for you and we will not sleep until you are nothing more than has-been, former politicians.

Sick of RINO's!!!

Lean in close for the wet and sloppy one...

I'll answer the question of my take on Meg Whitman with another question; when are you going to get fed up of voting for the lesser of two evils?

This goes back to growing tired of the pragmatism versus principle argument that is going on throughout the Republican party, spurred in large part by the election of Obama and more recently by the nomination of Dede Scozzafava in NY-23. For far too long, the citizenry of this country has sat upon the sidelines taking no real action in supporting a candidate of any sort. And as a result when the primary comes along, the candidate we'd prefer (i.e. Tom McClintock for Governor, 2001; Fred Thompson for President, 2008; etc.) loses to a candidate that has larger name recognition or a prettier smile. We sit back and pontificate amongst ourselves on why these conservative candidates are the only acceptable choice for the office they seek and then sit back on our laurels as a much more moderate and distasteful candidate handily wins the primary. Once the primaries are over, then we watch this milquetoast candidate go on to run against the candidate from the other party, and then hold our noses as we enter the voting booth and publicly state that we've just voted for the lesser of two evils. Are you catching my drift here? We are to blame for 'middle of the road' candidates, and the RINO plague that currently infests the Republican party.

Now specifically as to Ms. Whitman... My principles would never allow me to support Barbara Boxer for Senate, ever. However, the last time that Boxer was up for re-election, Ms. Whitman publicly supported Boxer, and maxed out on donations to the Boxer for Senate campaign. (Also supported by Meg Whitman are moderate icons Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins as well as Democrats John Kerry and Mike Honda.) There are few in the Senate who in my opinion are more liberal than Mrs. Boxer, and yet Ms. Whitman not only publicly supported Boxer, but also donated money to her, snubbing Republican Bill Jones in his bid for the Senate seat. I would be interested to know what has changed about Mrs. Boxer, and Ms. Whitman in the last 5-6 years that would allow Ms. Whitman to support Carly Fiorina or Chuck Devore against Boxer as a Republican candidate would have to do in order to secure the Republican nomination. In addition, Ms. Whitman seems to be pleased with the job that self-proclaimed 'Radical Communist' Van Jones was doing, as recently as May 2009. If you'll recall Van Jones was President Obama's Green Jobs Czar and an admitted 9/11 truther. What business does a 'darned good' conservative Republican have supporting an avowed communist and 9/11 truther who is in the Obama Administration?! I have yet to hear Meg Whitman explicitly denounce the Stimulus package which has proven to be an unmitigated disaster. Ms. Whitman seems to have a hard time showing up to complete her civic duty. She was not registered to vote until 2002 and since that time, no voting records can be found in any of the counties or precincts she has inhabited. Recently, Ms. Whitman has also made some 'pro-amnesty' comments in interviews, all of which make my skin crawl.

Ms. Whitman may indeed be a Republican, but she, should she get elected, is going to be the type of Republican than is difficult to distinguish from a Democrat and that is one of the factors contributing to the Grand Old Party's current wander in the wilderness.

I refuse to continue to elect RINO's and then spend 2, 4 or 6 years complaining about the direction of the country. Ms. Whitman will not receive my vote, because she has not earned it, period.

'Old' Is The New 'New!'

Yes, even though I harbor deep disdain for the Gawker Media websites, I am going to link one of Jalopnik's posts to make a point. Dodge Big Wigs apparently gave themselves stiffys over the design of their new Charger (picture below).

The only problem is that it looks remarkably similar to this 1999 conceptual design of the Dodge Charger R/T...

Mind you, Dodge is not the first car company to do this. Regardless of how big a fan of the new Camaro I might be, I cannot help but admit the striking similarities bewteen this 1999 GTO Concept car:

And this conceptual drawing of the new Camaro...

If all it takes to be a new car designer is access to old concept cars, I'll do the job for half of what Chevy and Dodge are paying their guys now.

The Real Take Away From Election 2009

Frankly, there is only one real take away from the election last night. Blue Dogs are skeerd, period. Regardless of the spin that the MSM tried to give the election results, the electorate voted their pocketbooks. One question for you; who is in charge of the economy? That's right, the libtards.

The Obama train is no longer the train to Democratic shangri la. Blue dogs understand that if they want any shot at re-election, they must NOT vote for the Healthcare debacle currently threatening a floor vote tomorrow or Friday. Politicians live for two things, earmarks and re-election. Rest assured they will not give up either without a fight.

Black Or White

And in "I'm Sorry, The President Thinks You're Retarded News..." The Justice Department has overruled the results of a local election in Kinston, North Carolina removing party affiliation from the ballot.

Of note in the Justice Department's findings were the following:

The department ruled that white voters in Kinston will vote for blacks only if they are Democrats and that therefore the city cannot get rid of party affiliations for local elections because that would violate black voters’ right to elect the candidates they want…

...

Black voters account for 9,702 of the city’s 15,402 registered voters but typically don’t vote at the rates whites do.

As a result of the low turnout, Ms. King wrote, "black voters have had limited success in electing candidates of choice during recent municipal elections."

"It is the partisan makeup of the general electorate that results in enough white cross-over to allow the black community to elect a candidate of choice," she wrote…

By the way, this is what passes as 'Post Racial America.'

Obama just wants to make sure you know which candidates are from the correct party, and the gentlemen above are here to guarantee the right vote.

Be sure to read the whole thing, and keep a bucket handy as your brain is sure to run out your ears.

Job Losses in 49 of 50 States, Post Stimulus

Okay, is anyone really shocked to learn this? Do I need to spend any time telling you, 'I told you so?'

My own, beloved, California was projected to gain 396,000 jobs by the wishful thinking department of the Obama Administration. Instead the Golden Brass Tin State has lost 336,000 jobs. And just in case you thought it couldn't get much worse, home prices are projected to fall even more.

You're Doing It Wrong: Socialist Mop Edition

In a speech yesterday, President Obama again beat the stuffing out of one of his favorite straw men:
What I reject is when some folks say we should go back to the past policies when it was those very same policies that got us into this mess in the first place. (Applause.)

Another way of putting it is when, you know, I'm busy and Nancy's busy with our mop cleaning up somebody else's mess --- we don't want somebody sitting back saying, you're not holding the mop the right way. (Applause.) Why don't you grab a mop, why don't you help clean up. (Applause.) You're not mopping fast enough. (Laughter.) That's a socialist mop. (Laughter and applause.) Grab a mop -- let's get to work.
As Allahpundit noted yesterday, there happens to be a correct way to hold a mop. Obama seems to be oblivious to that fact, however.

Jublies!

If you're not up to speed on the Meghan McCain boobygate, good for you. If you care to know, you can read the story about it here.

The best summary/explaination/rip on McCain I've seen happens to be from Aurthur Loveless at Parcbench.com.
As she uploaded the picture to twitter, she could feel her sinful desires arising in her bosom. She gently bit her lower lip and slowly traced a line with her finger from her lower neck, over her ample breasts, past her navel and toward her most erogenous of areas, shooting a bolt of electricity through her heaving body. Arching her back she let loose a moan of pleasure, as sweat arose from her pores just like dew forms on the petals of an exotic flower.
Classic! I had to wipe Mountain Dew off my workstation at the office.  Be sure to visit Parcbench to read the whole thing.

One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other...

The Teacher and The Student.

Communist News Network posted an article regarding the Anita Dunn controversy. If you're not up to speed on who Anita Dunn is, read all about it and watch the video below.

Now that you know some background, CNN attempted to defend Anita Dunn, offering her claim "The use of the phrase 'favorite political philosophers' was intended as irony, but clearly the effort fell flat -- at least with a certain Fox commentator whose sense of irony may be missing.". Here are some especially interesting quotes from the article. See if you find anything interesting:
Dunn, taped in a speech in what appears to be a church, said the leader's philosophies were a guidepost for her own strategy on politics. She also praised the philosophy used by religious icon Mother Teresa.

"The third lesson and tip actually comes from two of my favorite political philosophers: Mao Tse-tung and Mother Theresa -- not often coupled with each other, but the two people I turn to most to basically deliver a simple point which is 'you're going to make choices; you're going to challenge; you're going to say why not; you're going to figure out how to do things that have never been done before."
And here's the second part.
Media Matters for America, a liberal media watchdog group, points out that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, also a Fox News contributor, quoted Mao in a 1995 Roll Call profile.

"War is politics with blood; politics is war without blood," Gingrich said, citing Mao.

Karl Rove, another Fox News contributor, wrote in a December 2008 Wall Street Journal op-ed that President Bush "encouraged me to read a Mao biography."
Notice any difference between the two? Sure, there's the obvious trying to drag republicans down by tying them in with the source of the controversy, in this case Mao. However, there seems to be a major difference between quoting Mao and stating that he is one of your two favorite political philosophers. Sorry CNN & Media Matters, not the same. Nice try though, fools.

Limbaugh Smear

SMEAR!
Let me start by saying, I'm not in the habit, nor will I be, of defending radio personalities against smears. They can do that on their own, much better than I can. However, this is more an illustration of how to root out a smear and follow it to its source.

--

Waaaay back on the 5th, HotAir linked, in their headlines section, a post cataloged at Memeorandum announcing Rush Limbaugh's bid to be part owner in the St. Louis Lambs. I read through the post, and inevitably began down the sewer hole of reading the comments. As is typical of any article regarding Rush, there was your typical 'Rush Limbaugh is a racist!' post. When confronted by other commenters seeking back up for this idiot individual's view point, he quickly linked the following article, with an in your face attitude.

Let's try and get beyond the fact that Al Sharpton is now blogging on NewsOne and get to the list itself.

The list is as follows:
1. I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.
2. You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.
3. Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?
4. Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.
5. Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.
6. The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.
7. They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?
8. Take that bone out of your nose and call me back(to an African American female caller).
9. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve.
And finally, not so much a quote as it is whining about Rush's complaints with Obama...
10. Limbaugh attacks on Obama. Limbaugh has called Obama a ‘halfrican American’ has said that Obama was not black but Arab because Kenya is an Arab region, even though Arabs are less than one percent of Kenya. Since mainstream America has become more accepting of African-Americans, Limbaugh has decided to play against its new racial fears, Arabs and Muslims. Despite the fact Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law school, Limbaugh has called him an ‘affirmative action candidate.’ Limbaugh even has repeatedly played a song on his radio show ‘Barack the Magic Negro’ using an antiquated Jim Crow era term for black a man who many Americans are supporting for president. Way to go Rush.

After reading this idiocy article, I thought back on all the shows that I'd listened to over the years, and what I knew about Rush and his show. Some things didn't mesh. First and foremost, Rush's call screener is a black man named Bo Snerdly. Let me ask you something, do you honestly think that a black man would continue to work for a man who advocated the murder of the man most responsible for black rights in the 20th century, let alone advocate rewarding the murderer?! This is as much a smear against Snerdly as it is against Limbaugh.

My mom used to say something to me way back when I was a children, if a glass is filled with a solution that is 10% arsenic and 90% water, would you drink it? Her point being that something can be mostly good, and have just a little bad in it, but it should still be tossed out. For example, the article above, although, I'd argue that it's 98% arsenic and 2% water.

First, and foremost, none of the Limbaugh quotes provided are dated or attributed to a medium, i.e. on the radio, in an interview with XXXXX, on ESPN, etc. Secondly, none of the context is provided. Hell, without context, I could take quotes from PeeBo and make him sound like the Grand Dragon of the Chicago chapter of the KKK. Some of the quotes above, are Limbaugh's. Most notably, some are NOT.

I did a little 'puter searchin' and came across these articles regarding the source of the James Earl Ray quote.

Smash Mouth Politics does a great job of detailing when and where the quote first appeared.

And I'm Right also pins Rachel Madcow over her usage, as well as Jack Huberman, the 3rd rate hack who made up the quote out of thin air. Oh, by the way, Huberman is a poster at Puffington Host... SHOCKER.

24Ahead does a good job of mapping out the circular nature of the sourcing on the quote, as well as the IP address from which the false quote was posted.

Okay, so if you're not convinced by now that the quote was generated out of thin air by a 30 year-old who lives in his mom's basement, then you're a libtard, or you're not paying attention.

As to context, Limbaugh did say that the NFL is beginning to look like a game between the bloods and the crips without any weapons. He also made the comment regarding the media wishing to see a black quarterback do well. Let's look at a little context, shall we?

On his January 19th, 2007 Radio show, (Hint, this is called sourcing) Rush took a phone call from a gentleman in El Paso who asked a question about LaDainian Tomlinson's accusation that Bill Belichick had essentially told his players to go out to the Chargers logo at midfield and disrespect it after beating the Chargers in San Diego. Rush then took 15 minutes to provide examples of how many players within the NFL are completely classless fools. He went out of his way to single out LaDanian and Marvin Harrison as the two most classy guys in the NFL because they go out on the field and make plays. They don't engage in taunting or celebratory dancing after making a big play. They do the job, make the play, get up then hand the ball to the ref so the game can continue.

Rush went on to condemn the behavior of the players in the NFL who get up after making a play and then celebrate on the field, or who get up in the faces of other players talking crap after a big play. These are the people and the behavior that Limbaugh was condemning. Here is the relevant part of the conversation leading up to the outrageously outrageous quote from Limbaugh:
LaDainian Tomlinson was accusing Belichick of ordering his players and creating a culture that would make it okay for players to go on the field and taunt and so forth and so on.

Now, LaDainian Tomlinson to me is the classiest player in the National Football League. He doesn't do a dance, he doesn't spike the ball when he scores. He and Marvin Harrison are the two most classy individuals playing in the National Football League today, in skill positions. They just hand the ball back to the referee. They act like they've been there and done that, like scoring a touchdown is no big deal, they don't taunt, they don’t act like they've been dissed or any of this. Let me tell you, the Chargers would not have lost that game were it not for a bunch of -- I gotta be very careful here. It's not just irresponsible, but there is a cultural problem in the NFL that has resulted in a total lack of class on the part of professional players.

There was a play where Brady was third and long, he was sacked, fumbled the ball, the Patriots recovered it, it will be fourth and long, forcing an interesting decision late in the game by the Patriots. After the play is over, a Chargers player gets in the face of a Patriots player, head butts him and starts jawing. This is the reason these guys are getting shot in bars, folks, late at night. Fifteen-yard penalty, automatic first down. So for the Chargers to complain about the lack of class by the Patriots, I found laughable. I think something ought to be done about it, because I love the game of football, and I don't like the kind of culture that's taking over, that "you can't diss me, you can't disrespect me." After every sack, players are acting like they've won the Super Bowl, and they're prancing around with these idiotic dances. The latest thing is to act like they’re making a jump shot in basketball. It's all done to taunt; it's all done to taunt the other team's fans.

After completing his phone call with the guy from El Paso, the show went to break. As is often the case, as the show was returning from the commercial time out Limbaugh summed up his comments from before the break. He summed up this conversation with the following quote:

RUSH: Look it, let me put it to you this way. The NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.

The quote was a summation of his criticism of the classless foolishness displayed on the field by guys who should know better.

I am not going to get into the comment on the media being desirous to see a black quarterback do well quote nor the Barack the Magic Negro song as Limbaugh has fully explained each of those in detail and I do not wish to rehash it here.

As for the rest, the only back up for the composite criminal sketches resembling Jesse Jackson, the NAACP quote and the bone in your nose quote all come from this 'article' at FAIR. FAIR is of course the upstanding, bipartisan organization which reports on accuracy and fairness in the media, as so detailed on their 'About Us' page:
As a progressive group, FAIR believes that structural reform is ultimately needed to break up the dominant media conglomerates, establish independent public broadcasting and promote strong non-profit sources of information.

The Nelson Mandela Darfur quote was a condemnation of liberals wishing to use the Military of the United States as a Meals-On-Wheels food delivery service. There's nothing even remotely racist about it, period.

So, at the end of the day, what are we left with? A list of unsourced, unsubstantiated quotes which equate to nothing more than a smear. Way to go liberal's, you stay classy!

It's happened! Once in a great blue moon (as opposed to a poor blue moon), I'll actually add a link in the 'The Only Blogs Worth Reading' sidebar on this blog. Actually, the only reason it really ever happens is, someone else links me or they've read the blog or they heard about me once, somewhere, maybe. Newly, freshly, just now added is Girl On the Right! Even better news, she's not dead, yet! Be sure to pay her a visit, and click on her advertisement links!

Summary: Conservatives Vs. Libertarians

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read and respond to my two posts concerning Conservatives and Libertarians. The answers ranged from the intellectually stimulating, to the comical and finally ended up somewhere in the clinically insane territory. Paul even got in on the commenting, encouraging me to eat a donut for some reason... Paul?

What I've come to realize is that even though there are countless 'issues' which separate the two ideologies, as defined by those on each side, there are far more similarities between the two, than some within the movements care to recognize.

There has been a large momentum change since the days immediately following the election, wherein libertarians and conservatives are setting aside squabbles over ideologies and uniting behind the ideal of LIMITED government, i.e. the Tea Party movement and the 9/12 march on Washington. Libertarians and Conservatives understand that they share the view of a limited government and that through working together they have the opportunity to elect a leader who can return the power of the political process from the hands of the elite in Washington to the hands of the people in the heartland.

We have to be ready to work together, but not afraid to call out fringe voices within the ideologies, lest diverted from our goal of regaining control in Washington.

As I said in the comments of a previous post; I am more than willing to have a policy debate on some of the issues that separate us into Conservative and Libertarian ideologies, once we've regained control in Washington. Until then, the focus should be singular: Limited Government, period!

Brilliance Personified, The Best and The Brightest!

Note: this is a temporary deviance from my previous post becuase the material below had to be addressed. However, please continue to send responses (except for Paul who wants me to eat a doughnut for some reason), as I will be summing the Libertarian versus Conservative viewpoints later this week.

Seeing as these examples of the finest in our culture and country continue to pour in, Brilliance Personified may have to become a regular feature here at IACLAYST.

As I was driving around this morning listening to Limbaugh, as I am apt to do when I get pissed at Colin Cowherd, I heard these exchanges between WJR's Ken Rogulski and two different unidentified women in front of Detroit's Cobo Hall where the women were waiting in line to fill out a request form to avoid foreclosure. Here is the unbelievable audio:

I nearly drove off the road into a tree, I kid you not. And, I can't be doing that crap, I already have two tickets for speeding and a little fender bender on my record. Anything more and I lose my DL, yo! Here is the transcript of the exchange between Rogulski and the unidentified women:

ROGULSKI:Why are you here ?

Woman: To get some money

ROGULSKI: What kind of Money ?

Woman: Obama money

ROGULSKI: Where’s it comin; from ?

Woman: Obama

ROGULSKI: And where did Obama get it from ?

WOMAN: I don’t know, his stash. I don’t know. I don’t know where he got it from, but he’s givin’ it to us. And we love him. That’s why we voted for him. O-ba-ma. O-ba-ma.

(...)

ROGULSKI: Did you get an application to fill out yet?

WOMAN: I sure did. And I filled it out, and I am waiting to see what the results are going to be.

ROGULSKI: Will you know today how much money you’re getting?

WOMAN: No, I won’t, but I’m waiting for a phone call.

ROGULSKI: Where’s the money coming from?

WOMAN: I believe it’s coming from the City of Detroit or the state.

ROGULSKI: Where did they get it from?

WOMAN: Some funds that was forgiven (sic) by Obama.

ROGULSKI: And where did Obama get the funds?

WOMAN: Obama getting the funds from… Ummm, I have no idea, to tell you the truth. He’s the president.

This is how idiotic this country has become. People literally have no concept of where the government get's it's money. Knowing nothing more than this about these two women, I am inclined to call them both morons and pass judgment on why they happen to be standing in line in front of Detroit's Cobo Hall, which by the way became a riot scene later that day as officials ran out of the assistance forms. I was reminded of a video from shortly before the election last year which shows a euphoric woman describing her experience at an Obama rally, behold:

We ain't rich like y'all, but one day THIS YEAR we will be because we got Barack Obama!

Please excuse me, I have to go get my white hood, horses and wooden crosses for the klan meeting tonight. I am obviously a raaaaacist for publishing such material on my blog.

Response Requested

I've received several responses to my last post on Libertarians and Conservatives, several by email and a few by comment. Based upon my reading of the responses, there seems to be a blurring of the line between Libertarians and Conservatives, with folks I'd consider conservative calling themselves libertarians. Then I had a Skunks "Toing!" moment and thought, 'I need to get my readers in on this.'

So, I'll ask you guys. First, what do you consider yourself: a Conservative or a Libertarian, or both? And, why do you define yourself one way versus the other?

Let me know in the comments!

Conservatives and Libertarians: Friends of Necessity

Together At Last!

This is certainly not an original thought, but as I've been pondering the recent political landscape one thing seems clear to me: Libertarians and Conservatives have more in common than they do not, and need each other in order for reason to once again rule Washington, DC.

It was very apparent to me shortly after iWon's inauguration that the political right had fractured into its thousand tiny little sects, each claiming had their brand of politics been adhered, the White House would never have been lost. The truth is the political right is as varied as the individuals that make it up. The reason for it's diversity is that in order to be on the right, you must be able to think for yourself. As Limbaugh is repeatedly saying, 'Conservatism is an intellectual persuit...' It takes nothing more than 'feelings' in order to be a liberal. All one must do is let their heart lead them in matters to know what being a liberal is all about. Unfortunately, what the heart desires is hardly ever what is best for anyone.

The right, naturally breaks down into multiple small interest groups congregating around which ever conservative principles they deem most important. Unfortunately, following an elector defeat, the party out of power turns inward upon itself blaming other sects of the same ideology for the defeats. Most recently I've witnessed a very bitter battle brewing between the self proclaimed 'Libertarians' and 'Neocons.' Now, as we all know, the Necons must be stopped. Libertarians, just like most other sects on the right, believe that they have the magic formula for ultimate happiness and peace and harmony and political power. Yes mom, I realize that was a run on sentence. Stick with me. As most political sects do, Libertarians have rallied around a leader which they believe best speaks for their movement. That charismatic (read loony) leader is Ron Paul. Paulnuts have targeted another conservative leader for their ire and disdain. That charismatic (read loony) leader is Glenn Beck. Hilarity ensues, or not:

By the way, the unedited, uncorrected title of that Video on YouTube is as follows:
Glenn Beck is a Neocon Not a Libertarian And he never supported Dr Ron Paul true constitutionalist Glenn is trying to infest a true grass roots people with his pretender fairytales
Now, here's the deal... Ron Paul is dead on about some things, and batshit crazy about others. Let's start with the good. I am all for (as are most on the right) returning this country to it's founding principles, and to taking a much more originalist interpretation of the Constitution. I am also all for the government staying the hell out of my personal life. He's a little off on Tax policy, advocating no income taxes what-so-ever, but I'd much rather have his tax system than our current one. However, to insinuate that the United States was somehow responsible for what happened in Manhattan on 9/11/01 makes the man certifiable. His isolationist policies make him a perfect candidate for Congress... in 1911. To somehow believe that the economic and security interests of the United States can be served, while simultaneously closing all military bases in every foriegn country is naive at best. Also, to even consider going back to the Gold Standard is novel idea, but no where near pragmatic. From the Wikipedia:

The total value of all gold ever mined would be US$4.78 trillion

Last year's GDP: $14.2 Trillion

Anyone see the problem with going back onto the gold standard? Here's a hint: $4.7 Trillion < $14.2 Trillion. Now, as to Beck... Where to begin? Beck has been right in intent and poor in execution. His recent program on Communist symbology in the artwork at the Rockefeller Plaza in New York made 9/11 truthers look sane by comparison. However, he seems to be the only 'major media figure' inquiring about corruption within the appointments of the Obama Administration. Many today would have no idea who Van Jones is, were it not for Beck's investigations, and 'asking reasonable questions.' Here's the dirty little secret, though... we all need eachother. True story. We need those on the right who advocate for originalist interpretation of the Constitution, who shed light on the inner workings (both good and bad) of the government, who understand governments place in our lives a la the founders intent. We need all these views, together. The fact is Libertarians and the rest of the Conservative movement need each other to succeed. Let's reclaim the White House, Capitol Hill, and get a Conservative bench, then we can fuss over legalizing pot, mmkay?

For the record, I consider both Ron Paul and Glenn Beck conservatives. They are both to be found on the right side of the political spectrum, however, they both self identify as Libertarians. I am not insinuating, as Paul supporters do, that Beck is a Neocon and not a Libertarian.

Ron Paul, not for President 2012.

The God That Failed

Yes, this is probably the 158,746teenth post you've read on the Olympics not coming to Chicago in 2016, but I plan to do something different with this post. I'm going to rehash everything you've already read, and probably offer no new analysis. You're welcome! Hell, I even stole that blog headline from the 6th update of this HotAir post, and the picture above from Drudge.

As has already been pointed out, repeatedly, every-freaking-where, Barack + Michelle * Oprah = Chicago Olympics FAIL.

The SNEWS media was absolutely incredulous:

Allow me to explore my inner Maureen Dowd for a moment. I heard something in that clip above. No, it wasn't spoken, but I heard it none the less. When CNN's Tony Harris said,"Madrid is still in?!" I heard "Madrid is still in?! They don't even have any black people in Madrid!"

What's obvious to everyone here, including CNN's Tony Harris, is that the IOC is filled with RAAAAACISTs. Yes, so disdainful of the black minority are the IOC, that they chose to have the games in the purist white heaven of Rio de Janeiro, as evidenced by this photo of current and former Brazilian Olympians.

Of course, we all understand that it was never Obama's intention of bringing the Olympics to Chicago, because he's always 5 steps ahead of the Newsweek blog staff.

The Ballerina is ready to feed the naysayers some humble pie! Take this you Chicago Olympics 2016 doubters!

Turns out The Obama Father made the IOC an offer they could refuse.

And so, here we are. As NRO notes, out several million dollars in unnecessary Olympic gallivanting travel.
The cost of Obama’s trip will not be close to $1 mil. It is well over $10 mil if it is a dime. The figures you quoted (accurately) are for flying a VC-25 (Presidential 747). Presidential trips require both 747s, as one is a backup. However, the costs soar when you realize that from the moment a POTUS indicates he wants to go somewhere, dozens, if not hundreds of people start preparing every detail. These details include security, communications, protocol, logistics that boggle the mind and transportation that most people never see. Several Air Force cargo planes of equipment are loaded and flown to the destination with armored limos, security personnel from the Secret Service and the relevant military branches, fuels specialists, etc. A National Airborne Operations Command Post 747 from Offutt AFB, NE will accompany him to keep POTUS in constant communications in case of national or [sic]word emergency . . . We are now up to three 747s, multiple cargo planes and costs for personnel who fly commercial ahead of POTUS. If FLOTUS flies separately, add a C-32 (757) for her and her staff, entourage, hangers-on etc, with attendant security, logistics, etc. Add a few more million dollars, though many personnel in Denmark will cover preparations for both POTUS and FLOTUS.

Of course, the most important figure left out of the analysis above is the Obama's carbon foot print generated by the trip. How many polar bears had to give their life for the Olympic FAIL?!

Can we all agree, finally, to say, 'Thank you PeeBo!'?

Ol' Whitey, Screwin' the Injuns, Again

Borrowed from Top50States.com
When will you white interloping, capitalist, free market, whores quit taking advantage of the poor red man and the land which rightfully belongs to him?! Leave the injuns alone!

Yes, it appears that the Tejon Ranch Company, which owns approximately 270,000 acres spanning the Tehachapi Mountains, crossing the Grapevine pass from the San Joaquin Valley into the Los Angeles Basin and stretching into the Coastal Range of California, is attempting to develop some of the land it stole from the Kawaiisu tribe, after it raped and murdered their children. Just watch as much of the following video as you can muster.

If you are still able to see through your tears, and can some how find the will to continue to live with your white self, then please read on. This is where the story get's good.

It seems our hero, David Laughing Horse Robinson is what we pale faces call a fraud.

Raped and pillaged from David's Angelfire Page

Yes, it turns out according to the Kern Valley Indian Community, which was founded in the 1970's by the Tubatulabal, Kawaiisu, and Canebrake area Indains with the goal of obtaining federal recognition, that David Laughing Horse Robinson "does not represent us... he isn’t the tribal chairman...," And, as it happens, most of the tribe has no problem with what the Tejon Ranch Company is attempting to do with it's own land, further, according to the KVIC, they have never owned the land in that site. According to The Bakersfield Californain, Laer Pierce, a spokesman for the Tejon project, said that the Tejon-Sebastian reservation was miles away from where Tejon Mountain Village is supposed to sit. So let's see, what do we have here? Anti-Capitalist agenda: check. Anti-development agenda: check. Oppressed minority group: check.

*Sniff, sniff

I smell a liberal agenda...

What else is this land most notably notable for? Why funny you ask, it also happens to be considered a protected habitat for the world's fugliest bird, the California Condor.

So now the truth comes out; not only are you a racist anti-injun, but you're a condor hating environment raper. How do you live with yourself?!

Here's a tip on how I am able to make it through the day: I just think about the countless rounds of golf I am going to be playing in the beautiful Southern California mountains, and how peaceful it'll be without the injuns whoopin' and a hollerin' and without all the condors trying to take off with my ball thinking it's a field mouse or somethin'!

Damn birds don't know it's my land?! No wonder they're almost extinct!

Cheney For [Fill In Office of Choice Here]?

I am sitting here before my monitor and keyboard in stunned disbelief. I cannot seem to grasp the fact that I've just read a profile of a conservative on the NYT website, and it was actually fair. Amazing! The profile was of a Mrs. Liz Cheney, daughter of one Richard Bruce Cheney.

So, what did the fishwrap of record have to say about Liz Cheney?

Liz Cheney looks nothing like her father, but it is clear who he is. She was introduced as “our favorite vice president’s daughter” at a recent gathering of conservative women here. She kept invoking him in her speech, conveying his best regards, and likes to share cute stories about Dad trying to master his new BlackBerry.

Like her father, Ms. Cheney speaks in understated, almost academic cadences, head veering down into her notes. She also shares his willingness to pummel President Obama in stark, disdainful tones, not so much criticizing as taunting him.

“Mr. President, in a ticking time-bomb scenario, with American lives at stake,” she said, “are you really unwilling to subject a terrorist to enhanced interrogation to get information that would prevent an attack?”

By speech’s end, the crowd was standing, and the former vice president’s daughter was being mobbed for photos and hounded to run for office.

Liz continues to represent a branch of Conservatism which is extremely hawkish on foreign policy. She believes adamantly that nothing is more important than the safety of the American people, as displayed by her passionate defense of Bush era policies on HVD's (high value detainees) and enhanced interrogation techniques.

There is little doubt that public support for Bush era policies was at its lowest point within the last nine months, but with new happenings from Iran, NorKo, Honduras and Venezuela it is quickly becoming a resurgent ideology.

I am interested to know what you folks think of Cheney policies on foreign policy. Is Liz Cheney a viable candidate for the Conservative party? Is the Cheney name too damaged to ever again hold high office? Is Liz someone you'd want representing you? Be sure to leave your comments below!

If you're interested in the NYT article, it's here.

It's About To Get Hairy

Democratically Elected Leader of Honduras
Imagine with me a scenario where a sitting President of the United States attempts in defiance of the Congress, the Supreme Court and Constitutional law to change the Constitution of the United States in order to allow him to be POTUS for life. After being warned by the Congress not to proceed and finding little support for his overtures, he decides to have political sympathizers print ballots which he intends to use during a special election, taking the issue directly to the people. Since the Congress, Supreme Court and the Constitution itself are in opposition to this action, the President orders the military to carry out the election procedures.

Having shown such willingness to toss aside Constitutional mandate, the Congress goes before the Supreme Court presenting evidence and witnesses following the path set out in the Constitution to remove the President from power. The Supreme Court supports the evidence presented by Congress and agrees that it is within the Constitutional authority of the Legislative and Judicial Branches to remove the President from Office. Once the vote is completed and the President has been stripped of power, the Congress orders the military to capture the, now former, President and remove him from the country altogether, as to prevent him from attempting a coup using forces within the country which are still sympathetic to his actions.

Now imagine with me that after a month of being just across the border in Canada, the former President is snuck back into the country and is given asylum within the Canadian embassy. What do you think the reaction of the United States would be if the Canadian government refused the United States demands for the former President to be removed from the embassy and taken outside the borders of the United States?

Former President, Wannabe Dictator, Assclown, Chavez Puppet of Honduras

Well folks, it's happening. Only the names of the players have been changed in the story above. In reality the President in question is the former President of Honduras, an ally of the United States. And the Embassy in question belongs to Brazil.

So here's how the Communist News Network describes what's going on:

Brazil on Sunday rejected an ultimatum from Honduras' de facto government to decide the status of ousted President Jose Manuel Zelaya, who has been holed up in the South American country's embassy in Honduras since last week.

As I'm sure you were, I was completely shocked by CNN's sympathies for the man who would attempt to over throw a constitutional republic and replace it with a dictatorship. De Facto is latin and literally means "in practice but not necessarily ordained by law." Hmm, let's see... The Congress challenged the actions, brought the accusation before the Supreme Court who reviewed the charges against the statute, which happens to be Honduras' Constitution and supported the removal of this man from office. Sounds like it was ordained by law to me.

Here are the real life implications of this story:

  1. A man who has already proven that he refuses to acknowledge the sovereignty of the law which he was elected to serve and protect (Zelaya) is being given shelter within the borders of the country that removed him from power and evicted him.
  2. The former President is being given a platform by a sympathetic press to spout all sorts of nonsense about his treatment and "illegal actions" of the Honduran Government.
  3. Rightly considering the Zelaya's presence a threat to national security, the Honduran government and democratically elected President (Micheletti) have demanded that Zelaya be immediately removed from the embassy and once again taken outside the borders of Honduras.
  4. Brazil has refused to honor the demands of the Honduran government and continues to allow Zelaya refuge within their embassy.
  5. In reaction to Brazil's decision, Honduras refuses to continue to recognize the Brazilian embassy as an embassy and has changed it's classification to a 'private office.'
This can only end badly. When the sovereign government of one country, in accordance with it's laws, removes a dictator from the office of President and extricates him from the country only to be defied by an 'allied' government which gives the dictator sanctuary within their embassy, things are about to get hairy. Imma go out on a branch here and speculate that the reason for changing the classification of Brazil's embassy to a 'private office' is to allow the Honduran military opportunity to invade the embassy without it being an act of war. However, it doesn't matter what the Honduran government classifies Brazil's embassy as, it matters only how Brazil perceives Honduras' actions. If Honduras is forced to storm the embassy to remove Zelaya, Brazil will no doubt see this as an act of war (as will most of the rest of the idiotic world) and will retaliate in kind.

Luckily, the Constitutional Law Professor in Chief of theses United States not only has a valid understanding of constitutional law, but is siding with the execution of constitutional law in an allied country.

Whew! For a minute there, I thought things were going to get ugly!

Bush Administration Stance Toward Iran Vindicated

I remember December of 2007. I remember that every libtard in the country was walking around with freshly wet pants caused by their excitement over the National Intelligence Estimate for Iranian Nuclear Weapons Capability which concluded with a high level of certainty that Iran had abandoned it's aspirations for a nuclear weapon in 2003. And also concluded even if Iran restarted the program, it would be nearly impossible for them to generate a weapon in less than 5-10 years.

I remember every dinosaur media outlet in the country bumping every other major story at the time to headline that Bush had lied about Iran's nuclear capabilities, and had used his strong rhetoric to galvanize the citizens of America into crazed jingoism so that they would support his calls for military action against Iran.

I remember that Bush lied and Ahmadinnerjacket cried. I remember that Bush was defensive about his stance on Iran.

Well, now we know the truth... That Bush guy was a moron! Wait, what? Whadduya mean, 'he was right?!' So Iran didn't abandon their weapons program? Are you sure? Damn, he was right. Sigh.

Turns out that that NIE report was as fake as the picture above. It seems that in this flurry of news coming out regarding Iran's real nuclear capabilities that the dinosaur media has forgotten their own incompetence in reporting the findings of the NIE uncritically. We know that the dinosaur media never highlighted that the NIE's authors included 3 "hyper-partisan anti-Bush officials". It also turns out that Western Intel has known about the program and the supposedly secret site for years.

Media mea culpa in 3...2...Wait, it's the media. Nevermind.

Government Denies Care To Cancer Stricken Veterans

Can you say, 'preview of things to come?'

"My wife would hug me, and it became almost unbearable," he said. "I went to a doctor, and they sent me to the oncologist, and they did biopsies on both sides. And then I ended up with a double mastectomy."

Kelly is one of 20 retired U.S. Marines or sons of Marines who once lived at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and who are now suffering from breast cancer, a disease that strikes about one man for every 100 women who get it.

Wait... 20 retired U.S. Marines or immediate family members who lived at Camp Lejeune now have breast cancer? That's a pretty freaky coincidence, no?

All 20 fear that water contaminated with high levels of toxic chemicals may have caused their illnesses, but the Marine Corps says no link has been found between the contamination and their diseases. Without that link, the men are denied treatment by the Department of Veterans Affairs, which says it can't treat them for a condition that hasn't been shown to have been "service-related."

Huh. So, the same government agency which would be forced to spend millions of dollars in care for these individuals cannot find a link between water contamination, contamination which the military does not dispute, and the cases of cancer. Why, I'm completely shocked by that!

Kelly said his VA representative told him, "It's not the VA's problem, it's the Marine Corps' problem."

And Peter Devereaux, who was stationed at Camp Lejeune in the early 1980s, was told in writing that his breast cancer "neither occurred in nor was caused by service."

One Government Agency pointing at another, neither of which claim responsibility. Shocking.

The men with breast cancer are among about 1,600 retired Marines and Camp Lejeune residents who have filed claims against the federal government. According to congressional investigators, they are seeking nearly $34 billion in compensation for health problems they say stemmed from drinking water at the base that was contaminated with several toxic chemicals, including some the federal government has classified as known or potential cancer-causing agents.

20 cases is coincidence, 1600 cases of disease caused by contaminated wells is indisputable.

In 1980, the Navy hired experts to test for trihalomethanes, a byproduct from chlorination, in the base tap water. The experts reported that some of the base tap water was "highly contaminated," according to a test report.

In 1981, the lab again found "water highly contaminated" -- and added the word "solvents," with an exclamation point. In August 1982, the experts found one sample with levels of trichloroethylene, a degreaser believed to cause cancer, of 1,400 parts per billion. Today's EPA safe level for the substance is five parts per billion.

"We've never seen 1,400 parts per billion of trichloroethylene, so that is very high," said Frank Bove, an epidemiologist with the federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

I believe this is what's referred to as a 'smoking gun.'

But it would take until late 1984 and early 1985 for the Corps to begin widespread testing of wells on the base and shutting down ones that had been polluted. In addition to trichloroethylene, chemicals eventually identified in the drinking water included benzene, which the federal government identifies as a known cancer-causing agent; and the dry-cleaning solvent perchloroethylene, a suspected carcinogen.

The Marine Corps said two independent studies have found no link between water contamination and later illnesses. And in a statement to CNN, the Marine Corps wrote, "Once impacted wells were identified, they were promptly removed from service."

Let's see, the contamination was discovered in 1980 and reaffirmed in 1981 and the wells were shut down in late 1984? Hell, by Government standards that qualifies as "promptly removed from service."

A fact-finding panel created by the Corps in 2004 ruled that officials acted properly and that the water was "consistent with general industry practices" at the time. And investigations by the Bush administration's Justice Department and Environmental Protection Agency found no criminal conduct by Marine Corps officials and no violations of the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Ah HA! Now we get to the nut of it! It was all Bush's fault. Bastard...

Two years ago, Congress ordered the Marine Corps to notify all Marines and their families who might have been exposed -- an estimated 500,000 people. The Marines say they have worked with environmental and health agencies "from the beginning" to determine whether the contamination resulted in any illness, and "this collaboration continues to the present day."

"I think if cancer of the breast in men or other kinds of cancer have been linked to this exposure, that we ought to know about that," said Richard Clapp, a nationally recognized epidemiologist who has studied clusters of cancer cases at toxic sites. "The families deserve that. The veterans themselves should know about that, and they should be compensated if the link can be made."

But for now, there is no proven link -- just Marines and their families who say they are suffering.

I'm ready to turn over my health care decisions to the government! Who's with me?!

Thomas Frank Model Journalist

These guys are making it too easy. Behold:
There are few things in politics more annoying than the right's utter conviction that it owns the patent on the word "freedom"...

Any increase in the size or duties of government, the right tells us, necessarily subtracts from our freedom. Government is, by its very nature, a destroyer of liberties; the Obama administration, specifically, is promising to interfere with the economy and the health-care system so profoundly that Washington will soon have us all in chains.

I'll speak slowly and use words you're sure to understand. Any time something is mandated by government, i.e. it becomes law, it is then illegal to not do what the government has mandated. For example, health insurance. If the government mandates that people must have health insurance, healthy 20-somethings like myself who are trying to save money for more important things (i.e. starting a business) are penalized. Therefore, I no longer have the freedom not to spend my money on what is important to me, I must spend it on health care, or face a fine. Follow?

That our ancestors could ever have understood freedom as something greater than the absence of the state would probably strike protesters as inconceivable. But they did. You can see it in that famous Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving painting from 1943: "Freedom from Want," an illustration of one of Franklin Roosevelt's "Four Freedoms." Strange though it might sound, this is a form of freedom that pretty much requires government to get involved in the economy in order to "secure to every nation," as Roosevelt put it, "a healthy peacetime life for its inhabitants." The idea is still enshrined today in the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

First off, the government wasn't nearly as involved in our ancestors life as it is today. I am referencing the same group of ancestors that the author is, the group who were around to hear Franklin Roosevelt's "Four Freedoms" when he broadcast it live over the TV... Second, the UN... Really?! What you're failing to see here, is that this is an argument about constitutionality. Please point to the section of the constitution where people are guaranteed the 'freedom from want.' I'll wait.

Conservatives of the 1930s, led by an upper-crust outfit called the American Liberty League, certainly felt that way. "That Roosevelt was a dictator there was no doubt; but Liberty Leaguers were not quite sure what kind," wrote the historian George Wolfskill in "The Revolt of the Conservatives," a 1962 study of that organization. "Some thought he was a fascist, others believed him a socialist or Communist, while others, to be absolutely sure, said he was both."

I'll tell you which kind. A socialist that increased government spending higher and at a faster rate than any other president before or after until PeeBo came along. The guy who pioneered the tax our way into prosperity by taking money from the people and spending it on make work projects. How'd that work out for those in the Great Depression, by the way? It's no secret that FDR idolized his buddy, Papa Joe. The rest of us know him better as Joseph Stalin. So, I don't think the Communist nameplate is as far removed as you liberal FDR lionizers would like to believe, either.

Today, of course, we know that the right's tyranny-fears were nonsense. Most of Roosevelt's innovations have been the law of the land for 70 years now, and yet we are still a free society free enough, that is, to allow tens of thousands of protesters to gather on the National Mall and to broadcast their slogans and speeches to the world via C-SPAN.

By this definition, were every other right guaranteed in the constitution removed, we'd still be 'free.' That means; no press, no freedom of religion, no right to bear arms, no protection from search and seizure, no protection from cruel and unusual punishment, no womens voting rights, shall I continue?

Even such pits of statism as Britain and Canada remain free societies, generally speaking, despite having gone skipping blithely down the universal-health-care road to serfdom decades ago.

They're so free! Just ask Mark Steyn about freedom of speech in Canada.

For the sort of people who gathered on the Mall last weekend, however, I doubt that such observations would matter in the least.

Such observations matter in the least, because they are inherently flawed, and you're a condescending douche who just doesn't get it.

Moment of inadvertent honesty:
Government intervention equals tyranny. Liberalism is forever a form of despotism-in-waiting.

By the way, I'm still waiting...

Grab Your Horses

Time to dust off those sheets and hoods!

It's funny, that's not at all how I took Joe Wilson's comments last week. However, when Hank Johnson (the batsh*t crazy congressman who beat out Cynthia McKinney for this seat) says it that way, there's no doubt. Saddle up, boys! I'll bring the crosses, you guys get the gasoline!

I seriously have to question the sanity of these people right here. These guys are two for two.

Jingoistic Post of the Day

From teh ABC News:
President Obama was blasted by a top Latino ally on Monday for modifying his health-care plan in the face of conservative criticism.

The criticism was leveled in Spanish by Rep. Luis Gutierrez, a Democrat from Illinois who was the first Latino member of Congress to endorse Barack Obama for president.

Referring to the Obama administration, Gutierrez said: "Those who should be our friends, our allies, are more and more giving Rep. (Joe) Wilson, R-S.C., exactly what he wants to continue with this prejudice against our community."

Two points/questions:

  1. Did I miss the part during Obama's speach to the joint session of congress where Joe Wilson interrupted PeeBo and Said, 'You Lie!' Followed shortly thereafter by, 'And I hate all them damn Mexeekins, too!'?
  2. There are Latinos in Chicago?

But Gutierrez wasn't done being a complete moron:
Gutierrez, who made his remarks in Washington, D.C., while participating in a panel discussion on immigration reform sponsored by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, was incensed by the Obama administration's announcement over the weekend that it was going to bar undocumented workers from participating in the health insurance exchange.

Wait, what? He was 'incensed' because illegals will not be able to participate in a government program in a country that they are inhabiting in violation of the laws of said country?

Huh, I think I see where he's coming from on that one...

For your collective ire, here is the text of the Congressional Oath of Office:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

Nailed It!

Ha HA!

Seems as though I'm the one with the l33t crowd size estimating skills, Paul. How do I know? What sort of brilliance backed up my flawless math and logic? The Other McCain's of course!
My friend Barbara Espinosa was the source of the first concrete crowd numbers: 450,000, counted by a people-meter at the intersection of Constitution Avenue and 11th Street, two blocks east of the starting point of the march to the Capitol.
As a refresher from my "Hundreds of Thousands Rally In DC, Against Big Government" post:
Using the Parks estimate of 1 person per 2.5 square feet leaves us with approximately 440,000 people along Pennsylvania Avenue when this picture was taken
Nevermind that these are two different street names, and the picture I analyzed was taken to the north of the rally area, not to the east as Stacy indicates in his post. Just, for a moment focus on nothing but the number.

That's right, I posted the exact same number (+/-2%) as Stacy McCain. Locations, times, dates, and all other important evidence be damned!

I truly amaze myself sometimes.

Toss Civility!

Seriously, at what point do these people no longer deserve respect, nor civility from their constituents? From the HotAir:
Via Michelle, who notes that Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) isn’t exactly known for his calm, rational dialogue. However, even this seems over the top from a sitting Congressman responding to criticism from his constituents. When a man at Stark’s town hall concludes with the well-known phrase, “Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining” — meaning “don’t lie to me” — Stark goes, well, starkers by the 1:30 mark:

“I wouldn’t dignify you by peeing on your leg. It wouldn’t be worth wasting the urine.”

Just when you thought that the height of Beltway arrogance had been reached by Arlen Specter’s “No one is paying me to meet with you,” or Baron Hill’s “You don’t tell me how to run my Congressional office,” along comes Pete Stark to claim the grand prize by insisting that his constituents aren’t fit to experience the warm splash of his anointed urine.

This must be a new initiative from the Democrats in Congress — urine conservation. Is urine an endangered resource on Capitol Hill? Because we’re all pretty sure that horse puckey ain’t.
You know, when Clinton was elected (my first Democratic presidential experience) my parents said to me "Regardless of how we feel about the man in the office, we respect the office." I'm sorry, but not only is this jackass (or any other politician of your choosing for that matter) not fit for office, he shows no respect for anyone he shares the room with. Why do we show him (or any of them) respect? Screw the respect the office 'BS,' the guy deserves to be tarred and feathered.

Skunks, is this something you can hook us up with?

Hundreds of Thousands Rally In DC, Against Big Government (UPDATED)

I'm going to go out on a limb here and claim that the crowd number vastly out paces what the DC Fire Department estimates as 70,000 and undercuts the 'generous' number offered by the Daily Mail at 2,000,000. I've settled on a number between 500,000 and 750,000 people, and here's how I got there.

Courtesy of Michelle Malkin, here is a crowd estimator that USA Today published before the Inauguration of PeeBo.

The estimator determines crowd sizes for the National Mall area which stretches between the Capitol building and the Washington Monument. The numbers are based upon a density of one person per 2.5 square feet. The trick here is that from the pictures of the event, including this video still, the tea party crowd did not inhabit the mall, but instead Pennsylvania Avenue, just to the north. You can see in the picture below, the placement of the camera (yellow and red dot), the area where the crowd gathered, and the direction the camera was pointing (yellow line).

We also know that the protesters inhabited the steps of the capitol building and the area surrounding the Capitol Reflecting Pool and the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial. According to the US Parks Service, with people filling the steps of the Capitol and the area surrounding the Reflecting Pool is equal to approximately 190,000 people.

Now, from the Capitol Building down Pennsylvania Avenue to where the camera was placed is almost exactly one mile. In the picture we can clearly see that people filled the street including sidewalks and bled over into cross streets. The average width (based upon three very unscientific measurements using google maps) of Pennsylvania Avenue, including sidewalk ares, is 210 feet. Therefore, the space which makes up the area the protesters were inhabiting along Pennsylvania Avenue is equal to 1,108,800 square feet, approximately. Using the Parks estimate of 1 person per 2.5 square feet leaves us with approximately 440,000 people along Pennsylvania Avenue when this picture was taken, which doesn't account for the widening of Pennsylvania Avenue into the square which people are visibly inhabiting in the foreground of the second picture.

Note that the picture above is taken from the corner of 14th Street and E Street, looking East toward the Capitol Building. It is also safe to say that people bled off the picture to the West (bottom of the picture) toward the White House. Taking the two numbers together, 190,000 and 440,000 we get a total somewhere in the neighborhood of 630,000 people. This number would not include any people gathering on the National Mall, which I have not seen pictures of, but can't assume that there weren't at least some people there. Also the pictures happen to be single moments in time, and do not reflect the coming and going of individuals throughout the day.

There have been a few people out in the blogosphere who claim that the crowd size was nowhere near the size of the 'pro-immigration' (read: pro-criminal alien) rally in Los Angeles. Really?! Take a look at this picture from MSDNC and compare it with the still frame from above.

Nowhere near?!

One thing remains certian, however. Using 'Progressive' math, the crowd size in Washington DC on September 12th, was easily 2 Million people.

-UPDATE-

Almost as soon as I hit publish post, I stumbled across these pictures posted over at Protein Wisdom
This first camera shot is taken somewhere between the steps of the Capitol Building and the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial (note the statue of the man on the horse in the foreground) and is pointed West, toward the Washington Monument in the background.
This second picture is taken from almost the exact same location, however, further east, closer to the Capitol steps. Note that you can still make out the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial directly in front of the Washington Monument, although it's futher away.
This final picture appears to have been taken near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 4th Street. The camera is pointed east toward the Capitol Building.

It pains me to say this, but after seeing these new pictures, you can take all that crappy math I did before and toss it out the window. Someone is going to have to convince me that there were less than 1 million people there. Amazing!

As a side note, there were also several tea party events across the United States for those who were not able to make it to Washington. How many thousands gathered in those locations as well? The left can deflate the numbers all they want, the reality is that there is a large portion of the populace which is not happy with PeeBo or this Congress.

Now Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Program

Before we get too far into this post, all Gawker Media websites are sh*t. Yes Paul, even Deadspin. Below is a hit list of why, in my opinion, anything from Gawker Media should be printed on unrecycled bleached white paper, and used to cover the floor in your puppy training pen. Here are some of the greatest hits:

  1. Alex Pareene is a Douche. A whiny, quitter of a douche at that. Alex apparently still wets his diaper over President Bush's election, and the events of 9/11/01. He thinks that reminding people of what happened that day resulted in a "vast national wave of jingoism, paranoia, dread, and fear." He criticizes the administration's handling of that day, the way the public reacted to that day, the way many liberal's lives were changed that day (some of whom proclaimed to become conservative after 9/11) and the resulting war and internment of war criminals, also known as terrorists.

However, you'll be pleased to know that when Obama rode in on his white horse, the seas were calmed the storm subsided and now, "This is the first anniversary of that terrible day, though, that the Terrorists will not still be winning." Did you get that? He's saying that since Bush is no longer in the White House, the terrorists are no longer winning. So, either Bush was a terrorist... or reminding people of what happened that day and our actions as a nation after 9/11 were, in fact, terrorism. This passes for intelligent blog posting over at Gawker.

*Editor's Note: What follows can be classified as righteous anger, please administer earmuffs.*

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!??! HOW FUCKTARDED CAN YOU BE?! WHAT A GODDAM TWATWAFFLE!

*Editor's Note: This concludes the righteous anger section of the blog, you may remove your earmuffs. Thank you.*

Pareene then goes on to say that Glenn Beck is a terrorist for trying to recover the feeling that we had on 9/12. Glenn is of course referring to the unity that we felt as Americans, and how we all identified with New Yorkers and those in Washington DC that day. We weren't Democrats or Republicans, we were Americans first and foremost. Alex, however, is too fricking thick to understand that. He believes that Glenn is calling for all of us to be in the state of sheer panic which gripped the city itself that day and for a few days after. He sums up his post by stating:
"Glenn Beck is an actual terrorist, and the people attending his rally in DC tomorrow are al-Qaeda in America."
    Hey Alex, stay assy!

  2. MOMMY! They're showing that scary video again! Gabriel Snyder is a douche as well, but not nearly as obtuse as Alex. Gabriel thinks the worst way to memorialize September 11th is to show what actually happened that day. Why? Because it's hard to watch?! Boo-f*cking-hoo. This nation needs strong reminders of what it is that our enemy (who by the way is still at war with us, whether or not we are with him) is willing to do to attack and ultimately kill us. If you pussy libtards can't handle it, then I suggest you all take a vacation to France for the week and neck with some guy named Pierre who hasn't showered in a week.

  3. Matt Hardigree rounds out our trifecta of douchebaggery. Conservative calls for the boycott of purchasing a product which is manufactured by a company which is primarily owned by the government is Un-American. Hardigree, a former Democratic staffer, thinks that the "Far Right Wing Hates America!" Hey asshat, wanna know what's Un-American?! Government takeover of private enterprise. It's called socialism, and it's distinctly Un-American. Conservatives calling for the support of a privately owned business versus doing business with a Government Enterprise is called Capitalism, and that is distinctively pro-American.

Project 2996: Remembering Andrew Stern

Andrew Stern, 41, of Bellmore, N.Y., a bond broker at Cantor Fitzgerald, worked on the 104th floor of 1 World Trade Center. A huge New York Yankees fan, Stern helped coach his son's Little League team and took his son to Yankees games. Stern usually rose at 4 a.m. to go to the gym before work. An avid runner and solid athlete, he ran in the New York City Marathon

USA Today

September 11, 2001 started off just as any other late summer day in the Hudson Valley. Andrew rose that morning at 4:00 AM for is usual morning run. It was unusually clear and the sun shown brightly on the two towers at the center of World Trade Plaza. Andrew worked on the 104th floor of WTC 1, and was busy at work when his life and the lives of thousands of others were violently shaken at 8:45 that morning. He was one of 700 employees Cantor Fitzgerald is estimated to have lost that day.

Unfortunately, the further from 9/11/01 we get, the harder it is to find information on those who were lost that day, but I was able to find a tribute written to Andrew on September 11, 2006. Do yourself a favor and read it.

God Bless and keep Andrew Stern's family. May they be comforted.

The Long Term Impact of 9/11

We can look back at September 11, 2001 and state, now, that it was largely a failure. Yes, nearly 3,000 people lost their lives that day, and many more lives were disrupted for several days, weeks, months and years following, however, the long term impacts have been relatively minimal. The planned destruction of western civilization, specifically the financial sector was avoided. Terrifying Americans out of continuing in their way of life, was at best temporary. Unfortunately, the bonding effect was also temporary. Whereas in December, 1941 every American knew who the enemy was, and were ready to make any sacrifice necessary; September 2001 has done little to crystallize the American masses into once again facing an enemy head on and fighting until the defeat.

We are once again, asleep at the wheel. We are facing an enemy who seeks our utter and complete destruction, and we are more concerned with whether or not someone held the men responsible upside down and poured water on their faces. We have lulled ourselves back into slumber in an era of hope and change. Instead of 9/11/01 acting as a wake up call or an alarm, we instead treated it as nothing more than an annoyance, hitting the snooze button and then rolling over to go back to sleep. In an era of 'Political Correctness' we have allowed ourselves to get caught up in an argument over the propriety of sleep deprivation and assault via caterpillar. The next time you are asked to be politically correct in dealing with those who attacked us on 9/11/01, ask what is politically correct about flying loaded planes into two heavily populated sky rises and the Pentagon. Then ask what's politically correct about beheading someone who does not beleive as you do with a dull knife.

We have met the enemy, and he is us.

Questions Without Answers

Many across the nation and the world end the day with questions, many without answers. Who is responsible? Why would they attack heavily populated Manhattan? Why planes and buildings? Where are my loved ones, and are they safe? What does this mean for our military?

Things as simple as person to person communication were in complete disarray, indeed even cell phone communication was impacted for days after the attacks. It would take days, weeks and in some cases months before these questions were understood and answered. Our world is still changing as a result of that day, but one thing remains certain, 'We Will Never Forget!'

President Addresses The Nation

President Bush addresses the nation, saying "thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil" and asks for prayers for the families and friends of Tuesday's victims. "These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve," he says. The president says the U.S. government will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed the acts and those who harbor them. He adds that government offices in Washington are reopening for essential personnel Tuesday night and for all workers Wednesday.
