Media Matters: Union Whore

0 Informed Opinions

In a report that really should surprise no one, Big Government ties together some 'fishy' donations from the SEIU to Media Matters around the time of the Kenneth Gladney beating. Big Government makes a pretty powerful, albeit circumstantial, case that the SEIU was paying Media Matters for their slanted coverage of the event.
8/6/2009

* 9:53 AM ET, Huffington Post/Sam Stein: Unions To Take On Conservative Groups Health Care Town Halls; “In a memo sent out on Thursday, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney outlined the blueprint for how the union conglomerate would step up recess activities on health care reform… also uses the specter of the infamous 2000 recount “Brooks Brothers” protest to rally its members to the administration’s side.”
* Richard Trumka, then AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer (now President) issues a statement, slams the town halls, calls the events corporate funded and part of the conservative strategy.
* 12:47 pm ET, Media Matters: AP reported on town hall disruptions, ignored conservative strategy
* Afternoon: White House aides give Senate Democrats a recess battle plan; David Axelrod and Jim Messina tell senators, “If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard.” See Politico: White House to Democrats: ‘Punch back twice as hard’
* Organizing for America sends out mass email for the Bernard Middle School event in St. Louis, MO:

That very evening, the Kenneth Gladney incident happens in St. Louis at the Bernard Middle School event. A black conservative is beaten by members of SEIU. I’ll let the guys at 24th State cover the details of that evening’s outcome.
Be sure to check out the entire timeline and read the article over at Big Government.

Whiny Entitlement Class Puke Schooled By Jobs

7 Informed Opinions

Ryan Tate: "But I really want porn and Flash!!!"

Paul Mitchell absolutely loves Apple. So in love with Apple is Paul Mitchell, that he never misses a chance to bash anything MacApple manufactures, produces, sells or supports. But, that's okay because Paul Mitchell is a capitalist and he understands that Apple is free to produce a product that consumers are free to consume, and Paul can purchase elsewhere from another manufacturer. This is called a free market system. Paul gets it.

Ryan Tate, does not. Ryan Tate happens to work for one of my absolute favorite media companies, Gawker Media. While at home, in between long homo-erotic porn sessions, Ryan Tate happened across an iPad ad that made him so angry that he spit cheetos all over his monitor. The iPad ad proclaimed something about a revolution, and apparently that's all it took for Sh!tfit Tate to unload on Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, with both barrels. The astounding thing is that Jobs wrote back.

The article, as much as I hate Gawker Media, is pretty interesting and you should check it out. Okay, I take it back. The article sucks, but the screenshots of the email exchange are very interesting. If, however, you don't have the stomach for it, allow me to give you the paraphrased version:
Ryan Tate: iPad sucks cause I can't watch porn, and you're a jerk for not letting me have Adobe on it or my iPhone.

Steve Jobs: "...what have you done that's so great? Do you create anything, or just criticize others work and belittle their motivations?"
Good for Jobs. The ridiculousness of Tate's logic is as simple as getting pissed that the Italian Restaurant that you're visiting is forcing you to eat Italian. No one forced Tate to purchase, or use any Apple products. He's free to pick up an HP, any time he wants. And I'm sure that HP wont 'censor' his access to porn either.

POTUS Potential?

1 Informed Opinion

If you haven't already, meet Chris Christie. Christie is the fiscal conservative that New Jersey elected to fix the clusterfark in Trenton. He's direct, forward and doesn't take shit from anyone. Case in point:

Gov Christie calls S-L columnist thin-skinned for inquiring about his 'confrontational tone'

Notice any equivocation? Wavering? Side-stepping? If someone needs to 'sit down with our enemies', this is the type of guy I want sitting across the table from Medvedev, Ahmadinnerjacket, Krazy Kim, AssClown, etc., etc.

USA Today is Clueless

3 Informed Opinions

In an article posted online, USA Today proclaims:
"Amid complaints about high taxes and calls for a smaller government, Americans paid their lowest level of taxes last year since Harry Truman's presidency, a USA TODAY analysis of federal data found.

Some conservative political movements such as the "Tea Party" have criticized federal spending as being out of control. While spending is up, taxes have fallen to exceptionally low levels."
That's right, folks, your taxes have fallen! Time to abandon the Tea Party! Give up! Your battle is won!

USA Today also posts a handy chart to the left of the article to show how taxes as a percent of income have declined since the year 2000.

There's only one, teeny weeny little problem with USA Today's propaganda piece. The neglect to mention that income as a whole has dropped due to the number of jobless. That's right, 'Americans paid their lowest level of taxes' because unemployment is at near historic levels. "While spending is up, taxes have fallen to exceptionally low levels', because there are much fewer tax payers to collect from.

USA Today even has a summary at the end of the article dispalying why 'the tax bite has eased'. Nowhere do they attribute the loss of jobs as a determining reason. Way to go, USA Today! Carry that water!

The Day the Mask Slipped UPDATED Working Video

2 Informed Opinions

Talk with anyone who shares an elevated interest in politics about the first time they remember feeling as though the network news media had an agenda, and the example they might well provide is this one. It was campaigns season in early 1988 and The CBS Evening News was profiling each of the major Presidential candidates. They were very interested to get then Vice President George H. W. Bush on for quite some time regarding another matter, the Iran-Contra affair. When the campaign season got into full swing and CBS had completed several profiles of the other Presidential Candidates, the Bush Team agreed to be interviewed for the purpose of profiling Bush's agenda and vision for the United States as President.

What follows is the story leading up to the interview, followed by a video of the exchange. Follow along as the Bush Team and Roger Ailes of Fox News notoriety sniff out the scheme at CBS, and prepare Bush to give Dan Rather the ass whooping of a life time.

CBS started with the setup from which they hoped to spring the trap:
When CBS requested an interview with Bush, the following letter was sent to the Bush campaign:

"Part of our early coverage of the 1988 presidential election has been a series of candidate profiles produced for 'CBS Evening News.' We purposely saved your profile for last. Dan Rather is very interested in your profile, and has decided to do it himself."
Copies of the letter were made and distributed throughout campaign headqurters. Bush was given a copy and handwrote the following on his:

"I feel comfortable with Rather. Make sure this guy gets reply soon."
What follows is the story of the lead up and the climax of the interview.
[Dan Rather] was the living symbol, in conservative circles, of the power and presumption of the media....Rather had been working on an inquiry into the story of the veep, the Ayatollah and the Contra comandantes, and in January CBS put in for an interview with Bush — an extended sitting, the network said, to be edited down to five minutes or so of tape for a “profile” of the vice president.
“Ab-so-lute-ly no!” [Roger] Ailes exploded in a staff meeting. You could never trust TV guys in a tape situation. They weren’t on your side; they could edit your guy into oblivion. “Jesus,” Ailes said. “No, no, no!”
The request was rejected, and after fitful negotiations Bush’s men followed up with a counteroffer: Rather could have his interview, but it would be live or nothing.
Not all of them celebrated when the network said yes. Lee Atwater, for one, didn’t like the smell of it. He was a medley of tics and twitches even in repose, all flittering fingers and jouncing knees, and the Rather interview looked to him like a setup.
“I’d really watch that guy,” he said when Bush phoned in from New Hampshire the day of the telecast.
Bush laughed. You’re wrong, he said; he had known Rather since Texas, twenty-five years before, when Bush was in oil and Rather in local news.
“He’s a fair man,” the vice president said.
“All right,” Atwater answered. He was still nervous.
Ailes wasn’t. [Pollster Bob] Teeter had alerted him the night before that they were caught in a classic bait-and-switch; the word was around that the subject would be Iran-Contra and that CBS was going to open up half the show for it, Rather’s piece first, then the interview. Ailes made some calls, confirming the rumors; one mole told him people were running around the network boasting that they would take Bush out of the race. The warrior in Ailes wakened, and when Air Force Two landed in a snowstorm at Andrews Air Force Base that Monday evening, he and [Bush aide Craig] Fuller were waiting.
The limousine ride to town was the only chance they would have to prepare Bush for the likelihood that, as Ailes predicted, Rather would be coming at him like a mad dog.
Bush seemed insufficiently worried. “I’ve answered the question five hundred times,” he said. “I don’t see any big deal.”
“This is a big deal,” Ailes said. “All they have to do is press you on dates and bullshit that you haven’t had time to review, and you’re gonna look like you don’t know what you’re talking about. If somebody asked me what I had for lunch last Thursday, I wouldn’t know, but I’d look guilty trying to think about it.”
“No, no,” Bush said. “Dan Rather is a good newsman. He won’t do that.”
“Hey, “ Ailes said, “his job tonight is ratings. His ass is on the line. He doesn’t care about you. If he thought he could get away with it, he’d shoot you.”
The message registered, and Ailes used their time in the car to get Bush ready for combat. “Don’t accept anything Rather says to you,” he said. “Don’t accept the premise of any question — I don’t even care if it’s right. Stay on offense the whole time and wear him out.” He studied Bush. The guy wouldn’t fight unless he got mad, and what dependably would get him mad was the feeling that he was being treated unfairly.
“Watch that opening piece,” Ailes told him. “That’ll get you up.”
As it happened, Ailes had thought about what to fight with: a notorious incident several months earlier when Rather, on location in Miami, had got sore at having his newscast held up by a tennis match and had walked off his set to call New York to bitch about it.
The tennis match had ended in his absence, and CBS, with nothing else to put on the air, had gone to black — an empty screen — for six minutes. It was the ultimate embarrassment for a network, as Ailes reminded Bush; Rather would deny afterward that that had been his intent, but he caught heat for it.
“Look,” Ailes said, “he’s trying to judge your whole vice-presidency by this stuff. That’s like judging his whole career in broadcasting by six minutes when he acted like an asshole.”
Reactions about the interview from members of the Bush family and staff, as well as quotes from members of the media can be found here. What follows is a video of the exchange courtesy, Media Research Center and Newsbusters.

It's fun to watch the trap sprung, then quickly fall apart as Bush would not back down. Rather received a lot of heat from his peers, as well he should! All of the questions that Rather attempted to ask had been asked and answered repeatedly, and most under oath. The answers were available, but Rather was attempting to make Bush look guilty by getting him to hedge on an answer, or stating that he was unable to remember. In the end, Bush came out on top.

Fat Blonde Puts Foot In Mouth; Begins To Chew

8 Informed Opinions

Also Known As

This morning on The Spew, Meghan McCain aka Young Sally Struthers, pontificated on 'exactly what's wrong with politics.' At issue is Sarah Palin's call for Rahm Emmanuel to be fired while simultaneously finding nothing wrong with Rush Limbaugh's use of the word 'retarded' when used in as satire aimed at Rahm Emmanuel. Rush's point, which was obvious to anyone in his audience, was that a Republican under the same exact circumstance, would be run out of town on a rail. However, the POTUS' chief of staff just has to act like he's sorry, then all is forgiven. So, since Rahm can say it and get away with it, then it must be okay to do now, right? When Bawbawa Wawa questioned Rush's use of 'satire,' Whoopi Gasbag chimed in saying:
"Yeah, well, when he appears at Caroline's, the comedy club, I'll believe it was satirical. "
You see, only comedians in comedy clubs can use satire. Everybody knows that.

Also on the firing range for Young Sally Struthers, Tom Tancredo's Tea Party speech. Apparently Y.S.S. no issue with uninformed voters and illegal aliens voting in the election. Fucking Brilliant. She also accuses Tom Tancredo of racism. Here are the two remarks of Tancredo's which are racist, as determined by Y.S.S.:
"People who could not spell the word 'Vote' or say it in English, put a committed Socialist Ideologue in the White House, who's name is Barrack 'Hussein' Obama..."

"...People at the convention should have to pass literacy tests in order to be able to vote in this country..."

Y.S.S. compares Tancredo's statements to the 1960's and the excuses used to deny African-Americans' the right to vote. Either Y.S.S. is extremely ignorant, or she's as retarded as Rahm Emmanuel. Citizens of the United States who'd been granted the right to vote by the Constitution were being singled out and refused their right to vote based solely upon the color of their skin. The charge of illiteracy was a canard floated as a legitimate disqualifier by racists to prevent blacks their rights. Fast forward to November 4, 2008. It is known that there are somewhere between 12 and 40 MILLION Illegal Aliens residing within the borders of this nation. Illegal Aliens, are by definition NOT citizens of the United States and are therefore legally disqualified from voting. The other burr under Y.S.S.'s saddle is the fact that Tancredo used Barry's middle name which is a McCaniac no no. I'm sure when Y.S.S. got home, John grounded her for a week just for mentioning PeeBo's middle name, regardless of the context.

If you can stand the idiocy, here is the video:

Yes, I Know

7 Informed Opinions

Why the hell not?
It's been 3 years, 5 months 17 days, 9 hours, 15 minutes and 54 seconds since my last post. The good news is that nothing of any importance has happened since the last time I wrote. Not going to lie, it's been difficult to balance work, caring for my grandmother, redesigning my mother's guest bedroom, nursing shingles- oh yeah, and there's that whole work thing. But you're not here for excuses- unless you're a libtard, then that's all you understand.

While cruising the seedy underbelly of these here interwebbynets, I happened upon the dumbest person ever to access the web, other than Algore hisself, of course. I must warn you, however, if you spend more than 45 seconds on that user page, your brain will kick out your teeth, crawl out your mouth and down your shirt, then hop a bus for Venice Beach in search of some one smart to inhabit. Fair warning.

Big in the news, as of late, is the aptly named 'Climategate.' Revealed within the last few weeks were 'hacked' emails from the 'University' of East Anglia from top climate researchers disclosing that they manipulated data to support their theory that the earth is warming. Yes, not only did climate 'scientists' cook the books in order to support their lunatic theory, but they also destroyed the original data, leaving only their 'corrected' data. Fan-fucking-tastic. And in order to ensure that Democrats would retain their unchallenged crown as the king of fucking idiots, Babs Boxer suggested prosecuting the individual(s) that disclosed this highly inappropriate behavior. Brillaint!

Liberal logic: if an individual exposes damaging information about a conservative, tobacco company, car company, gun company, etc.; it's called 'whistle blowing.' If an individual exposes damaging information about a libtard, ACORN, SEIU, global warming, universal healthcare, etc.; it's called illegal. Got it?

Turns out PeeBo is also going to make an appearance at Dopenhagen for the Climate Summit to meet with other heads of state so that they can all pat themselves on the back for how far up their asses they've collectively kept their heads on the Climategate issue.

Also, PeeBo announced his new (read: a fucking year old) strategery in Afghanistan. It was announced in a speech at West Point, the enemy camp, after dragging his ass on the deal for nearly 4 months. You see, PeeBo had to wrestle with the strategery General McCrystal requested. This would be the same strategery that PeeBo laid out during the campaign, and shortly after taking office, in order to make sure that it was the right decision. He was quick to point out the cost in dollars of this decision to surge the number of troops in Afghanistan becuase $50 Billion is a hell of a lot, especially when compared to the meager $1,300,000,000,000 (thats trillion) he flushed down the toilet in the 'anti-stimulus' package earlier this year. Yes, you see, Barack is the most brilliant man ever to walk the planet. Thank God that when he was born of his virgin birth, he chose the lowly United States to grace with his presence.

Lastly, it turns out that according to Norah O'Donnell, (the fuck kind of name is Norah?) Rosie's retarded half sister, Sarah Palin fans are uninformed on news items. It seems that they are just to darned busy to read the newspaper for 30 minutes every day (yes this ancient troll-hag actually suggested that informed people read newspapers) and are therefore uninformed. As Paul points out these 'morons' are so uninformed that they are more knowledgeable on the Climategate Scandal than anyone at Ms.NBC, as the network has yet to report on the fraud committed there. As Paul says:
Norah O'Donell at MSNBC claims that Sarah Palin supporters do not have the 30 minutes needed to read the newspaper. But, oddly enough, Palin supporters know about the "scientific" fraud going on at the IPCC and East Anglia, despite it NOT being reported in the newspapers. Maybe they get their news from the very same mysterious force that keeps telling us that the economy is "recovering?" Contradiction? You decide.

Norah, sweetheart, retire mmkay?
